Synopsis:
In this era of AI based services, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into healthcare is transforming the way we approach patient care, particularly in the sensitive and complex area of end-of-life support. This talk explores and present research on the evolving role of AI in enhancing decision-making, predicting patient trajectories, and personalising care pathways during the final stages of life. While AI technologies such as predictive analytics, natural language processing, and machine learning have demonstrated significant potential in improving quality of care, reducing clinical burden, and supporting ethical decision-making, the UK healthcare system has yet to fully capitalise on these advancements. The session will highlight global best practices, examine current limitations in the UK’s AI adoption, and propose actionable strategies for responsible, data-driven implementation. Emphasising the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, ethical governance, and digital infrastructure, this talk calls for a national vision to embed AI meaningfully in end-of-life care, ultimately aiming to deliver compassionate, efficient, and equitable healthcare services across the country.
