Phil studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bath, a degree that included a year in industry at Rolls-Royce PLC in Bristol working on gas turbine secondary air system design. This included time over a year seconded to Detroit, MI on the team developing new vehicles for a large US automotive OEM.
Phil joined the patent profession in 2005, and trained with a large, established UK firm. There he worked for a huge range of clients in many different industries and discovered his enthusiasm for working for startups and SMEs.
