Synopsis:
Social care is of significant importance to our society as whole, but it is often misunderstood and misrepresented. Despite this there are significant advances and developments around innovation, digital, data and tech that are closely linked to people’s experience of care. BCS is embarking on a social care digital leaders community of practice – looking to support leaders, professional bodies and practitioners around better IT for everyone. As part of this BCS has commissioned a white paper on the landscape across social care – having spoken to key leaders across the four nations, this paper sets out some of the benefits, challenges and potential policy asks around what a person centred, tech influenced social care sector looks like.
Tommy Henderson-Reay, is a registered social worker and Social Care Digital Engagement specialist at the NHS Transformation Directorate and Digital Engagement Programme Manager for NHS England.
