We are an enthusiastic bunch of volunteers, who believe that you can only get out what you put in. To help you (and us) stay ahead of the game, and to remain well informed, why not come along to our events and learn for yourselves?
Its all very well reading my report after the event, but you miss out on the networking, the opportunity to ask questions and anything I fail to record (and if you saw my squiggles, its a wonder I can make any sort of report of the meetings!!)
Bonus offer:
You could volunteer to be “co-opted” on to the committee to help us out. This would give you experience of working with a committee, bring fresh ideas to the branch, and look good on your CV. Interviewers like something to break the ice with, BCS Committee work may give you the edge (well, it worked for me…) It doesn’t take much time, just a couple of hours a month.
As of November 2013 the committee stood at 12, however we’ve still plenty of room. If you do decide to help out, the work will be well spread out – so now you won’t be asked to do too much. We still need all the help we can get to organise prestige events… so, please do still consider a committee post…. possibly for next year?? Something to do on those dark winter nights, once the summer holiday is over?
